WHEREAS:

The impact of labor unions on America's development and history is immeasurable; and

WHEREAS:

The labor movement was instrumental in the passage of a 40-hour work week, Child Labor Laws, the Minimum Wage and Civil Rights Legislation; and

WHEREAS:

Many of our brothers and sisters were martyred in the fight to win the right to organize and bargain; and

WHEREAS:

Many of these accomplishments and battles are glossed over or not even mentioned in elementary through high school history textbooks; and

WHEREAS:

Much of our movement is not included as part of the curriculum.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:

That this Convention promote and support local legislation that requires and encourages labor history as an integral part of the curriculum.
