WHEREAS:
For eight years the University and College Labor Education Association, the AFL-CIO and the Coalition of Labor Union Women have sponsored Regional Summer Schools for Union Women; and
WHEREAS:
The Summer Schools for Union Women provide a unique opportunity for union women to obtain valuable training and share experiences with sisters in the union movement. The summer schools encourage union women to develop as leaders and participate in their unions to the benefit of the labor movement; and
WHEREAS:
AFSCME women have always participated in the summer schools for union women as participants and instructors and found them to be valuable union education programs.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That AFSCME councils and locals encourage the participation of women members in the summer schools for union women through promotion of the schools and, wherever possible, financial assistance which will enable AFSCME women to attend.
