WHEREAS:
AFSCME International member benefits already offers and has existing scholarship funds; and
WHEREAS:
The majority of scholarship funds are for undergraduate studies; and
WHEREAS:
Members and their families are pursuing graduate school education, professional licensing and non-traditional educations; and
WHEREAS:
The costs for graduate school education, professional licensing and non-traditional educations cause hardships to AFSCME members and their families.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:
That AFSCME International work with Union Privilege to attempt to expand the scholarship fund through its member benefits program for graduate school education, professional licensing and non-traditional educations and encourage its councils to do the same.
